Miguel 'El Piojo' Herrera has spoken in depth about his players' performance when 'El Tri' took on Nigeria in Atlanta, Georgia on Wednesday night. At a press conference in Mexico City, Herrera imitated that the "Europeans" showed their best game, however, he is still not entirely satisfied with his line up for the World Cup in Brazil in June. The Mexican coach was particularly impressed with goalie Guillermo Ochoa: "[he] played well today, he did his work like we've always seen it, doing it really well."
Miguel Herrera continued his prais of Ochoa saying, "I felt he did very well, integrated as ever into the team: as they always tell me, the guy is more serious than others but, well, today he seemed pretty reliable, he had the confidence to suddently launch the ball over the heads of players to the sides of the field, and he got Guardado in the chest - it's clear to me that up til now the best has not been asked of him, but yesterday when we started to really work, he did a great job."
Herrera also talked about openly about Andrés Guardado: “Andrés Guardado surprised me - it's been a while since I've seen him in this kind of form, we always see him with attitude, with determination, and it seems like yesterday he felt confident, loose, and he did what we asked of him really well." Of Héctor Herrera, 'El Piojo' said the following: "he's a guy that, whenever we watch his games in Europe, he has great control of the ball, he has a great physicality for competition and when we put him in the midfield he worked very well."
El Tri's head coach also spoke about Javier Hernández's condition: "the doctor told us vaguely, because there they haven't conducted any tests yet, that it could be a minor distention of the knee, because when he fell, the goalie landed on top of him and twisted the knee a littlebit. They've done some work on the knee already, and the doctors say that the injury is not very serious: he came off the field walking: actually he wanted to keep playing, but we are not prepared to risk anyone."
