El Tri head coach Miguel 'El Piojo' Herrera has responded with surprising elegance to the barrage of criticism from former Mexican footballer and Atlas manager Tomas Boy. Herrera was questioned during a press conference on Tuesday ahead of El Tri's match against Nigeria about whether Tomas' comments would affect the team. In a move that surprised many, Herrera responded with utmost calm: "I think we need to cut this situation short. I think we have very little time and we need to focus more on what needs to be done."

Miguel 'El Piojo' Herrera continued with his eloquent rebuttal saying, "I have a World Cup ahead of me, and he has to save his team from its fall. There is not time to squabble and bicker. I'm going to focus on creating results and he should focus on Atlas to save it from its decline," said El Tri's coach. The comments from Herrera come after just this morning Boy called Herrera naïve and said mockingly that "he thinks he's in the the coache's chair because of his coaching ability."

The conflict between the two coaches began Miguel Herrera and Tomas 'Jefe' Boy began last week when Boy blamed Herrera for the physical fatigue of his player, Enrique Pérez. Meanwhile Cuauhtémoc Blanco and Rafael Márquez also began a something of a cockfight after the former America player told ESPN that he thought Marquez wasn't ready to be captain. Herrera also responded to this criticism, pointing out Marquez' long international career in comparison to Blanco's.

"I see Rafa yell on the field, shout orders, in the lockerroom everyone has respect for him, and it is a respect he has earned with what he has done at an international level, not what he did in Mexico. I don't know what's gone on between them in the past, but right now Rafa is functioning quite well."
