Back in 2013, Televisa and Univision began making changes to two of their most popular entertainment TV shows, “Sábado Gigante” and “El Gordo y La Flaca.”
When the network’s longest-running variety show celebrated its 50th anniversary, Don Francisco told Huffpost Voces that he was eager to revamp the show and keep up with the audience’s wants and needs: “We are hopeful, not that we are celebrating our 50 years, to renew ourselves, take it all as a second opportunity and make the new ‘Sábado Gigantes’ after half a century. I think our format can go beyond borders.” Sadly, Mario Kreutzberger and Univision announced the show was coming to an end on September 19, 2015.
Recently, rumors started sparking up about “El Gordo y La Flaca” coming to an end as well. It all began with Jessica Maldonado’s exit from the show last week. Immediately, several media professionals started expressing their opinion about the situation and they all believed that Maldonado’s image might have influenced executives to make such decision.
However, we found out from a good source that our favorite hosts Lili Estefan and Raúl “El Gordo” De Molina are not going anywhere! Alberto Ciurana, Univision’s President of Programming and Content, recently shared a picture on Twitter where he hints towards a new change in the popular TV show: "Approving the new set for @ElGordoyLaFlaca the new home for our beloved @rauldemolina and @LiliEstefan."
As you can see there's plenty more of "El Gordo y La Flaca" to come!
