"El Chavo Del 8" is a classic comedy that every home in Latin America grew up watching. The endearing characters like the orphan boy that lives in a barril in an apartment complex, the witch that lives in Apt. 71, the overbearing mother with hair curlers, her sheltered and spoiled son and many more are engraved in our minds. This sitcom was repetitive with running jokes that become familiar, but that didn't stop us from watching. Who can forget when El Chavo gets excited and says "eso, eso, eso" or when he cries he says "pi, pi, pi, pi." "La vecindad" was part of our home that lived inside a television screen and was there for us since we can recall.
What if producers rebooted the series into something more contemporary? What if El Chavo had en edge and wasn't as funny as we remembered? What if the comedy turned into something gritty with blood, guns, explosions and knives? We don't think that would translate well, unless you are the people behind YouTube channel Enchufetv! Their creative minds churned out a parody of the sitcom classic series and turned it into a dark action flick. The trailer for the alleged upcoming theatrical version of the comedy has very familiar characters, but with more spunk and not as endearing as we remember. El Chavo, La Chilindrina, Don Ramón, Quico and Doña Florinda make appearances in a more realistic setting. Watch the hilarious trailer down below and tell us if you would watch this if it was real!
