The lead singer of a grupera band, along with two other band members were found dead inside the trunk of a car after they never returned home following a party in Michoacán. Edith González Cazares, 31, her husband Humberto Ledesma Rodríguez, 41 and her nephew, Julio César González Segovia, 25, were members of “Edith y el Tsunami.” They left their home in Irapuato, Guanajuato to go to a party in neighboring Pueblo Nuevo, Michoacán on Saturday, June 21. Contrary to some reports, they were not there to perform, but as guests.

After they didn’t return home that night, and their family failed to communicate with them, a missing person report was filed in the early hours of Monday, June 23. On Tuesday, authorities in Michoacán notified authorities in Guanajuato about three bodies found inside a car. A woman’s body partially burned, and two others completely calcined. The family was notified and they identified the bodies and the car they were found in, which belonged to Edith.

“This is very regrettable. Although this didn’t happen in the city, they’re citizens of Irapuato that have lost their lives, and as a government, we will try to help the families and ask Michoacán authorities to do justice,” said Irapuato mayor Sixto Zetina Soto. So far, the motives of the killings have not been established. “Edith y el Tsunami” used to perform in regional parties, fairs, and other gatherings, and their genre was mostly grupera music but they also covered different artists.
