On early Monday April 17, hundreds of children, military children and Congressional staff filled the White House gardens to search for eggs at the traditional Easter party.
President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed dozens of military families into the White House to celebrate this traditional Easter race kids love so much.
The search for Easter eggs is one of the most emblematic traditions of the federal capital, established in 1878 by President Rutherford B. Hayes.
It is a great event that attracts more than 35,000 children from the Washington area, military families and people from Congress. In addition, it is celebrated annually for 138 years, but in 2017, it seems that things didn’t work out that well and some of you watching the live transmission were impressed due to all the weird things that happened during the ceremony.
The White House transmitted through Facebook the Trump message to the nation.
"We're going to come out and join you and enjoy your company for a roll, a great Easter egg roll. And I don't know if people are going to be successful, but I know a lot of people down there are going to be successful. I've seen those kids, and they're highly, highly competitive," Donald said.
"We will be a stronger nation than ever and we are on the right track," he said from the semicircular balcony of the White House overlooking the south garden of the residence.
The first lady did a lot of research on previous White House Egg Rolls as she planned the event, her staff says.
"She wanted to get back to the tradition, so we're bringing back some traditional elements, like military bands, and focusing on the family itself," Stephanie Grisham, Melania Trump's communications director, told CNN.
Throughtout the social media, users have been creating memes over one particular matter we haven't mention. It's just that at the time of the National Anthem, Melania didn't know which hand she should use to put on heart while Donald preferred not to do it for quite some time.
In the past years, the Obamas hosted star-studded egg rolls. Pop star Fergie was the musical guest in 2009, and performers over the years included Justin Bieber, Janelle Monae and Ariana Grande. Professional athletes were also participated in sports activities stations around the South Lawn.
Entertainment this year included military bands, as well as Martin Family Circus and boy band Bro4.
These are the most hilarious impressions of the ceremony.
