The Colombian police have arrested a drug trafficker that authorities have been hunting down for three years on Friday.

The head of Italy's 'Ndrangheta Mafia Friday, Domenico Trimboli, was arrested in Medellin, Colombia. Trimboli, 39, is a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina and has been listed by the Italian Interior Ministry as one of the most-wanted and dangerous 'Ndrangheta fugitives, reports the ANSA.

Trimboli faces 12 years in prison for drug-related crimes that he allegedly committed internationally once he is extradited.

Drug profits reportedly constitute 3 percent of Italy's GDP annually. What's more, the combined profits of mafia groups ('Ndrangheta, Cosa Nostra and Camorra) represent 10 percent of the country's GDP.
