Drake fans have taken to leaving signs on Kanye West’s childhood home in Chicago on Saturday, Aug. 28, seemingly dissing the polarizing artist and promoting the "6 God's" upcoming album, a clear escalation of the rap beef between the two notorious artists.
As the rivalry between West and Drake heats up in anticipation of the release of "Donda" and "Certified Lover Boy," respectively, stands of the Toronto rapper have put their thoughts about Ye in public view by vandalizing his childhood home, according to NME.
One sign reads “CLB coming soon,” referring to the upcoming Drake album, while another reads “45 44 Burnt Out,” referring to “Betrayal,” a Trippie Redd song where Drake supposedly disses Kanye.
A final sign disparages Justin Laboy, a social media influencer who was involved in promoting Kanye West’s new album during its listening parties.
While "Certified Lover Boy" is due to come out on Sept. 3, while Kanye West’s "Donda" was finally released without announcement on Sunday morning, Aug. 29, after a chaotic rollout and at least three release dates that would eventually be scrapped.
In the lead-up to each of the three release dates, Kanye West held mammoth listening parties where he played the album in full to stadiums packed with fans as a star-studded visual spectacle ensued before the audience.
The first two listening parties were held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in New Orleans, and both featured Kanye West in the center of the stadium as the album played in the speakers of the stadium, CNN reported.
The latest listening party, held in Chicago’s Soldier Field, had a replica of West’s childhood home that was burned close to the end of the album, before Kim Kardashian in a wedding dress met him outside, according to Complex.
The release comes with controversy as Kanye West claims that his label Universal Music Group released Donda without his approval, thus making “Jail Pt. 2,” which features embattled rapper DaBaby, unavailable for the first few hours, Stereogum reported.
"Donda" is Kanye West’s tenth studio album.
