The anime film "Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero" will premiere in April, continuing the saga of Goku and his allies as they fight the latest form of a familiar opponent. The characters' reappearance suggests the arrival of a newly merged warrior: Gotenks.
Many fan-favorite characters have had their designs revealed in promo art and teaser films, including Gohan and his little daughter Pan, as well as Goten and Trunks.
During a special online event, the producers and director of "Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero" revealed the first look at the new teenage Goten and Trunks designs.
According to Comic Book, the producers hinted that Fusion might play a role in the film.
However, as quickly as they teased that, they also hinted that the Fusion Dance between the two might not be as successful as they (or fans) hoped.
Goten and Trunks appear to be doing the Fusion Dance in the latest poster for "Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero." Still, their fingers are not appropriately aligned, as fans on Twitter have pointed out.
While many speculated that it was just a playful posture, director Tetsuro Kodama indicated that a fusion would be attempted.
However, producer Akio Iyoku warns that it may not be a proper fusion or the type of teen Gotenks fans expect.
Because fans rarely saw Goten and Trunks during the "Dragon Ball Super" era, Screen Rant said the characters were treated with even more contempt.
When a fight breaks out or the Earth is in danger of being destroyed, Goten and Trunks are assigned to babysitting duty, tossed to the side while the adults fight.
In "Dragon Ball Super," Goten and Trunks have done as much for Earth as Master Roshi's pet turtle. Still, the upcoming "Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero" film offers a chance to put a stop to it.
The official poster for "Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero" features Goten and Trunks performing the Fusion dance, which is a rare sight in the present period.
That's fantastic news, implying a bigger and better role for Gotenks, and possibly even a fight against the main villain of "Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero."
However, reports indicate to an issue. As "Dragon Ball" fans know all too well, the Fusion dance must be completed flawlessly to produce a worthy warrior. Even the tiniest blunder will result in a overweight fusion, lacks muscles, or is otherwise unhelpful on the battlefield.
Though Goten and Trunks do the Fusion dance in the "Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero" poster, they aren't doing it correctly. Trunks' opposing digit has slipped over Goten's index finger, breaking their symmetry.
