Six months ago, aspiring presidential candidate Donald Trump sold the Miss Universe pageant after Univisión cut ties with the brand for his racist and demeaning remarks about Latino immigrants. As we all watched last night, it was all business as usual in the pageant until at the end, host Steve Harvey wrongly announced Miss Colombia as the winner. The crown was shortly taken from a tearful Ariadna Gutiérrez and passed onto Miss Philippines in what was one of the most horribly awkward moments in Miss Universe history.
Needless to say, Trump had a lot to say about the messy finale, but surprisingly he also offered a suggestion for an amicable resolution and we don't know how to feel about it. The mogul suggests they make the two beauty queens co-winners. “I recommend they have a beautiful ceremony which would be good for the brand and for Miss Universe, and that they make them co-winners,” he explained.
Early this morning Trump also tweeted expressing his dismay about the unfortunate events: “Very sad what happened last night at the Miss Universe Pageant. I sold it 6 months ago for a record price. This would never have happened!” Do you agree with his suggestion? We feel like he has a point, but we can't believe we agree with Trump on something. What are your thoughts on this?
