U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday, Aug. 6, that COVID-19 vaccine will be ready soon and it is possible that it is made available before the Nov. 3 presidential elections.

The prediction made by Trump seems far more optimistic than what the health experts globally and in fact, within the White House coronavirus task force are forecasting.

Trump made the prediction during the Geraldo Rivera radio program. When asked when does he think that the COVID-19 vaccine will be ready, Trump said “Sooner than the end of the year, could be much sooner.”

The radio host then asked him if it would be ready before the Nov. 3 U.S. presidential elections.

“I think in some cases, yes possible before, but right around that time,” POTUS said.

The U.S. economy has been left crippled by the COVID-19 pandemic. Trump, who is seeking re-election for the second term as the U.S. President, has been widely criticized for his take on the coronavirus pandemic in the country and the devastation it has led to.

Trump has been the center of criticism for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic in the U.S. From an emphasis on premature opening of the states to touting the anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine as a cure for COVID-19, the POTUS has made several claims that does not seem to have gone too well with the top health experts in the country as well as Americans.

There has been a dramatic increase in the number of new infections reported in different states in the country ever since the businesses started to open. In some states, the businesses have started to shut again amid surging COVID-19 cases.

The unemployment rates in the U.S. are at a record high, with many Americans clueless what lies ahead for them in the future concerning their job and income.

Even though Trump believes that a COVID-19 vaccine may be ready and available before the forthcoming U.S. Presidential elections, the health experts in the U.S. have said that “corners would not be cut in the race to secure a vaccine against the virus.

The country’s top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, said on Wednesday that there “might be” an indication that a COVID-19 vaccine is available by the end of 2020, which is both safe as well as effective.

"The ban on H-1B visas, which are often used to fill very niche positions that are not easily found in the American workforce, will ultimately prove to be counterproductive and is an example of using a nuclear bomb to address a bar fight," said Leon Fresco, a former deputy assistant attorney general in the Obama administration who now represents H-1B workers.
