Great ideas usually surface as a response to major problems that have to be solved.
So, here's the problem: Domino's Pizza is looking to create the ultimate pizza delivery vehicle. Seeking assistance in this project, Domino's Pizza will be collaborating with automotive firm Local Motors to present a design competition starting today until February 19, 2013.
Wow, I can already see the multitude of college frat boys waking up from their hangovers to answer Domino's call of duty.
Although it may seem like we're tackling a straightforward issue, the competition will be rigorously split into 5 phases: design, packaging, interior, surfacing, and rendering. The goal is simple, a better tool to deliver a better pizza.
Before aspiring designers go ahead and hand in napkin illustrations, Domino's Pizza PR will be providing videos to allow better understanding of the pizza arts and exactly what the work of a pizza deliverer entails. In fact, CEO Patrick Doyle will be riding along with "delivery experts" to hear the needs and accommodations that "delivery experts" require.
To get things started, here's our contribution to Domino's cause: if a 'hachi roku' worked well enough for a tofu shop, surely it'll do for a pizza shop too.
