A mysterious bruise on President Donald Trump's right hand has sparked debate among doctors, with some linking it to his handshakes while others believe it may be connected to aging, arthritis or even IV treatments.
The discussion over Trump's health intensified after photos of a noticeable bruise on his hand surfaced following his Monday meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the White House.
While the White House attributed the mark to frequent handshaking, speculation on social media suggested alternative explanations, including IV treatments or underlying health conditions, the Daily Mail reported.
Dr. Stuart Fischer, an internal medicine physician, pointed to age-related factors such as weakened blood vessels and osteoarthritis, which can make bruising more frequent and severe. He also acknowledged Trump's well-documented "aggressive" handshake style as a possible contributing factor.
However, Dr. Neal Patel of Providence St. Joseph Hospital raised the possibility of an IV insertion or blood draw, noting that repeated bruising in the same area could suggest medical treatments.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jeff Foster, a men's health specialist, noted that Trump's tanning habits and potential use of blood-thinning medications could make his skin more prone to bruising.
Trump, 78, is the second-oldest president in U.S. history. Previous photos have shown similar discoloration on his hand in August and November 2024, according to The Standard.
Despite expert opinions, social media remains abuzz with speculation, with some users questioning whether the White House is withholding medical information. The administration has firmly denied any health concerns, with White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stating that the bruise is simply the result of Trump's extensive public interactions.
