Fans have been waiting for the first "Divergent" trailer since the film has been announced, and Sunday, Aug. 25, during the 2013 MTV VMAs the trailer debuted at the Video Music Awards pre-show. The minute-long preview was introduced by stars Shailena Woodly (Tris) Theo James (Four) and Miles Teller (Peter). Catch the intense dramatic teaser trailer for "Divergent" below.
Scenes from the trailer include Tris during the capture the flag sequences, Four's fear landscape, a couple glimpses of Jeanine (Kate Winslet) and Tris jumping out the train. Overall the first trailer for the film is considered a solid first trailer and has many people more excited than ever for the theatrical debut. The synopsis for the anticipated film reads:
"In a future world people are divided into factions based on personality, a teenager is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, her life is threatened."
"Divergent" hits theaters March 21, 2014 and is directed by Neil Burger. Before then, fans have the final book in the trilogy by Veronica Roth to look forward to. The final book title, "Allegiant," will hit store shelves October 22.
It is rumored that Roth will publish four short stories about Four over the next several months. The first one, titled "The Transfer", will be available in eBook format September 3.
