Spanish singer Diego "El Cigala" can't wait to finally relocate to the Dominican Republic. He's already begun processing his citizenship and he'll move to the island in the following months.
He's landing in Dominican territory in the next week with his wife to start getting settled in. He will meet with the local press and will be honored by the faculty of art and the music department of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo.
"El Cigala" will then return to Spain to fulfill previous commitments for 20 days. Once he's done with his schedule, he'll travel back to the DR along with his family to finally stay in the country as a resident.
The main reason why the singer decided to make this life changing decision was because he was "tired" of the situation that's going on in his country right now.
"There is no future in Spain. I'm not blaming anyone for what's happening, but I do not fit in anymore. I'm 45 years old and I never imagined a catastrophe like this one. I'm sorry for those parents who've busted their buns to pay a decent education for their children so they emigrate later ..." Lamented the singer.
Marcelino Ozuna, his Dominican spokesperson, said in a statement that Diego Ramón Jiménez Salazar, real name of "El Cigala," asked for the Dominican citizenship and the whole process is "very advanced."
