Many royal followers wonder why Queen Elizabeth didn’t allow Meghan Markle to use the emerald tiara on her wedding day when she allowed Princess Eugenie to wear it when she married Jack Brooksbank earlier this year. Actually, this narrative is nothing but a royal myth.
Soon after Prince Harry and Meghan tied the knot, some royal followers made up this nonsense story about Queen Elizabeth denying Meghan the use of the emerald tiara on her wedding day. According to the story, the Queen invited Meghan to a spacious room with a collection of tiaras and allowed her to pick one that she would like to wear for her wedding.
When Meghan picked one, the tiara she happened to pick was one that no one else in the family had ever worn. Queen Elizabeth allegedly invented a story about her chosen tiara having a Russian origin so she could prevent Meghan from wearing it.
Quite understandably, when Meghan saw that Princess Eugenie was wearing the same tiara on her wedding day, she was allegedly mad. So she decided to get back at her and the Queen by making the public announcement about her pregnancy on Princess Eugenie’s wedding day.
According to royal follower David Byrne, the truth is that Meghan never really picked the emerald tiara in the first place. “Why Meghan would, allegedly, pick a tiara with emeralds, when it didn’t go with anything on her dress, or physical features, is beyond anyone’s comprehension, other than those people spewing the nonsense story,” he said. “Princess Eugenie has green, or hazel eyes, depending on what source you read, so it makes sense for her to pick the emerald tiara.”
Another royal follower, Mechelle Blair, also pointed out that the story that the Duchess of Sussex was denied the use of the emerald tiara is only a rumor that both Prince Harry and Meghan were very unhappy about. Blair said artifacts from Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding can prove that Queen Elizabeth never denied Meghan the use of the controversial emerald tiara.
In her own voice recording, Meghan stated that Queen Elizabeth gave her the freedom to choose the tiara she would like to wear on her wedding day. “I was very fortunate to be able to choose this gorgeous art deco style bandeau tiara,” she said. “Harry and I had gone to Buckingham Palace to meet with her Majesty the Queen to select one of the options that were there which was an incredibly surreal day as you can imagine,” she added.
Prince Harry also supported Meghan’s statement, saying that Meghan was lucky to pick the tiara that suited her best. “Funnily enough, it was the one that suited the best,” he said. “The one that looked the best on you without question. I shouldn’t have really been there — but an incredible loan by my grandmother,” he added.
