Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in hot water after the Duke of Sussex launched a legal war against the tabloids pestering his wife. The heightened tension was once something the couple felt before, which according to Lifetime caused the couple to split.

Earlier this month, the 35-year-old prince released a statement speaking out against the harassment brought by the media. The circumstances surrounding his wife, the prince continued, is akin to the period right before his mother’s tragic passing.

The whole scenario is reminiscent of an incident a few years back, when Harry issued a similar statement against the press’ incessant pestering. In November 2016, the Duke of Sussex, through Kensington Palace, confirmed that he was dating the former “Suits” actress while rebuking the discriminatory news released about his new beau.

“His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment,” the Palace released in its statement. “Some of this has been very public — the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments.”

Historically, the royal family keeps their opinions to themselves, especially when the media is involved. Harry’s public outcry was a bold move for the young prince and really showed just how much he cared for his beloved.

This touching gesture, however, was allegedly not well received by the Rachel Zane actress. According to Lifetime’s movie adaptation of their love story “Harry And Meghan: A Royal Romance,” Meghan didn’t appreciate the approach Harry took toward the situation, leading to her breakup with the prince.

Based on the movie, Meghan was angry that Harry had not consulted with her before making such a high-profile move. To make matters worse, his “patriarchal” tone didn’t help his case, particularly in stating his disappointment at “not [being] able to protect her."

As biographical as Lifetime’s adaptation claims to be, there’s, however, no evidence that the breakup occurred, and no verification has been made by the couple as to its truth. An argument may have occurred because of the specific tone Harry’s statement took, but a breakup is less than likely.
