A punch bowl is usually a great and easy addition to a party. It’s easy to make in whichever quantities needed beforehand. Mexican punch is traditionally consumed in December posadas or Christmas, but because of its warm, sweet comforting nature, some people start having it in the fall, and sometimes for Día de los Muertos too. Now, if you’re hosting a spooky Halloween party you can get super creative with the drink and add as much fun stuff as you want, such as fruit, fun-shaped ice cubes, candy and food coloring. Salud!
Southern Living’s Brew-Ha-Ha suggests a green scary potion, placed on a second bowl with dry ice to mimic the witch’s cauldron. Check it out here. If you want to take a more traditional route, Mexican punch has guavas, sugar cane, pear, apples, prunes, and cinnamon, amongst other ingredients, served hot after letting the ingredients simmer together. Another option is Punchbowl’s Bloody Vampire Punch, which is an orange, rum-based punch which is super easy to make and can be presented in any form involving a pumpkin and possibly black salt.
This BHG creation in a punch bowl but is perhaps best appreciated in a pitcher: Candy Corn Drink needs layers of mango gelatin, fizzy orange soda and whipped cream to create the colorful stripes of the traditional Halloween candy. Another very fitting option is a blood orange punch like BHG’s Ghoul's Punch, not only is the color perfect but it includes frozen red hands made of cranberry juice. Check it out here.
