Devious Maids
Image Lifetime

It seems like every week the plot thickens a little bit more and as some mysteries are starting to resolve, others are beginning to surface. But at least we got some answers to the unanswered questions of last week's episode, for example, Adrian and Taylor's relationship and why she was so stressed out whenever he was around her.

The arrival of Olivia (Valerie Mahaffey) was perfect to create some controversy around. Not only because she is Michael's ex-wife, but because she dropped one of the biggest bombs yet. After she crashes Taylor's dinner party, she apologized to Marisol, who insisted she wasn't the one who she should be saying sorry to. Olivia reacts saying she doesn't talk to "whores," and she didn't use that word figuratively.

We find out later, when Taylor confides her past to Marisol (I guess some people get too attached to their maids in a short time) the truth about the affair that ended Michael and Olivia's marriage and why she can't stand the sight of Adrian. We learn that indeed, Taylor used to be a prostitute and none other than Mr. Powells, used to be her pimp.

But Adrian doesn't just set up his friends with hookers, he actually watches them have sex from a two-way mirror, and it was also revealed that Flora, not only was his maid, but was also his prostitute. This opens up a whole new world of possibilities on who raped and killed her. Any picks?

Let's move on to Rosie for a second. It seems that my predictions last week are becoming true, and a romance between her and Spence might bloom sometime soon.

After learning that she was a few hundred dollars short to pay her lawyer's fee to bring her son to America, she asks Peri, who refuses to give her any money. Spence finds out and hands her a check. When the two are hugging (seriously, the maids might as well kick their employers out of their houses) an unexpected surprise shocks Rosie.

Turns out that Spence was aroused by female contact (we know he's not getting any because his wife is too busy doing a sexy young actor), and the proof of his excitement was largely visible, as Rosie pointed out in the next scene while discussing the incident with Zoila and Marisol. Zoila magically happened to have a bag of cucumbers that varied in size and they used them to describe Spence's member.

Rosie better prepare herself to be stabbed with that ginormous "sword."

Meanwhile, Genevieve and Valentina do everything they can to make Remi notice her. Once Zoila realizes their efforts, she threatens her employer to leave her if she doesn't tell her son to leave Valentina alone. Again we ask the question, "what is she trying to protect Valentina from?" Now our prayers have been answered! Well, kinda.

Yet another name enters the plot to try and untangle this little web once and for all: Henri. He is Genevieve's brother, and, as we learned from this episode, Zoila's former lover who broke her heart.

This revelation left us wondering if Valentina is, in fact, Henri's daughter, product of the affair between him and Zoila, and the latter doesn't want her child to fall for Remi because he is, well, her cousin. Sick, right?

And of course, how could we forget Carmen?

This week she went all out (literally) to pursue her music dreams. She finally got a meeting with a renown record producer who tells her she has what it takes except for one thing: she needs to lose the accent. As he said, "Americans, they like Latinas, as long as they're not too Latina."

After bringing her hopes up, and explaining what she needs to do to make it, the producer basically pressures her into going to his apartment and "closing the deal." Although Carmen agrees, she is not too pleased with the idea but she's willing to do anything as long as it's going to get her a record contract. Will we see more of that producer, or did he just use her as a one night stand? The second option seems like the best choice, but that is yet to be confirmed.
