Fans rejoice upon hearing that the popular anime hit series, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Yukaku-hen" might drop in the summer of 2021. Unfortunately, Netflix subscribers will have to wait until their favorite show might be streamed in 2022 or 2023.
It’s hard to say when the second installment will come out, but Netflix will surely have to wait until all episodes of the series will be released before it streams the show.
Movie critics speculate that if season 2 has the same number of episodes as the first season, fans are expected to see its finale by November 2021.
Recalling its initial release dates, the season 1 finale was broadcasted in September 2019, but, it only dropped on Netflix in January 2021. If season 2 follows the same pattern, Netflix might stream the anime series around the fall or winter of 2022 or in the summer of 2023.
Meanwhile, fans will have to anticipate Japan's highest-grossing film Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train to hit major U.S. theaters on April 23, 2021.
The much-awaited movie was initially released in October 2020 and earned international praise due to its action scenes, character developments, visuals and themes, and faithfulness to the series and manga.
The second installment will pick up the story after the Mugen Train arc where Tanjiro and friends travel to Yoshiwara in Edo, where rampant demon activity is suspected.
"Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" is a Japanese anime series, based on the manga written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotōge. The story follows the protagonist, Tanjiro Kamado, in becoming a demon slayer after his family was slaughtered by demons, while his sister, Nezuko, is turned into one.
In February 2021, the manga series reported having 150 million copies in circulation worldwide.
The "Demon Slayer" franchise has grossed over $2.6 billion in Japan as of December 2020. The movie, ‘Mugen Train,’ is breaking records at $414 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing anime film of all time.
Due to the popularity of the franchise, it’s up to Netflix to grab a deal with Ufotable Animation Studios in Japan and whether the streaming service will broadcast the second installment much earlier than anticipated.
