A Delaware man was arrested on Friday for allegedly extorting a woman for sex while posing as a police informant.
20-year-old Jemeire Perry, a student at the University of Delaware, was charged with sexual extortion, unlawful imprisonment and patronizing a prostitute within 1,000 feet of a "school, residence, church, synagogue or other place of worship" after he threatened a woman with arrest unless she agreed to have sex with him, according to Fox29.
According to investigators, Perry arranged to meet with a woman near Kimberton Townhouses who he planned to pay for sex. After identifying himself as a "Confidential Informant", Perry threatened to have the woman arrested "unless she complied with his demands for sexual activity," New Castle County Police said.
The woman denied his request and attempted to leave, but was stopped by Perry. She was able to flee and reported the incident to police.
Perry was later released after posting $5,000 bail.
Department detectives are concerned that additional victims have not come forward as they "may be fearful of coming forward."
