Decapitated Referee: Mob Kills Soccer Referee After He Stabs A Player During Soccer Game

A soccer referee was decapitated in Brazil after he fatally stabbed a player during a game. According to Yahoo! Sport, the soccer referee was decapitated by a mob that rushed the field during the match.

The deadly decapitation started when the game in northern Brazil was halted after referee Octavio da Silva ejected a player from the game. The player, Josenir dos Santos, began to argue, and quickly a fight between the two broke out. According to the Brazilian police, the referee da Silva then pulled out a knife and proceeded to stab the player.

After the stabbing incident, a mob of dos Santos' family and friends stormed the field and attacked the referee. The mob stoned the referee to death in revenge and then quartered his body, decapitated the referee and then placed his head on a stake in the middle of the field.

The player, dos Santos tragically died on the way to the hospital due to injuries sustained from the stabbing. The horrific act of violence on the part of both the referee and the mob is shocking regarding the upcoming 2014 World Cup in Brazil. In addition the country prepares for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio.

Police say that one suspect, a 27-year-old man, has been arrested in the case of the decapitated referee and police in Santa Ines are continuing to investigate the incident.
