'DC Universe Online' PS4 To Launch With Companion App And Feature Vita Remote Play

When "DC Universe Online" arrives for the PS4 on launch day fans will find it isn't easy to port your existing game over to the new console. According to director Jens Andersen, the game's arrival on the PS4 features over 2,000 updates designed to make it feel like a brand new experience, along with vita Remote Play functionality and a new companion app. "We looked at the opportunity to go to the PS4 as a relaunch of the game," Andersen told VentureBeat. "We've had almost three years now to gather feedback from players who originally bought the game or came in when it went free-to-play, who have given us feedback on what they like and didn't like about the game."

"DC Universe Online"'s original PS3 assets have been fully upgraded to fit the PS4's increased capabilities. This will include two levels of graphical updates that will feature enviorments with greater depth and remodeled cities. It was also reported that some of the 2,000 updates will make gameplay on the PlayStation 4 much easier but no detail was given for this aspect. The PS4 version of "DCUO" will also coincide with the release of a companion app that will allow users to check on their characters, equip items and keep up with their friend's activities. The "DC Universe Online" mobile app is expected to release later this week for iOS and Android.

"DC Universe Online" is one of the 20 something titles that will launch alongside the PlayStation 4 November 15. The game will be free-to-play at launch and will not require a PlayStation Plus subscription. It is also worth noting that PS3 versions of your characters will transfer over to the PS4 version of the game and all you need to do is sign in with your existing account. Meanwhile, during the Q&A it was revealed that the next update for "DC Universe Online" will add some new Legend characters and another new power!
