Davidoff Cool Water has had the unfortunate luck of their new commercial airing just days after the star of the campaign, Paul Walker, died in a tragic car accident on Saturday. The ad was shown on TV in the UK during a Premiere League football match on Sunday night. The advert played during a Chelsea-Southampton match. Viewers reacted with outrage to the advertisement which they saw as extremely insensitive.
The Davidoff Cool Water ad shows the late Paul Walker speeding down a highway: the tragic irony was not lost on viewers who took to social media to voice their concerns: "WTF @Channel4 is still showing Paul Walker's Davidoff commercial of him driving and diving. Would have thought they would've taken it down," said one commenter. "Just adds insult to injury that Davidoff [is] still using their Paul Walker advert," another said.
Paul Walker was killed in a car accident on Saturday when the Porsche GT he was driving collided with a tree and exploded into flames. His friend and financial advisor Roger Rodas was driving the vehicle and also perished in the crash.
