Patrick, who created social media buzz two months ago when she acknowledged her relationship with fellow NASCAR driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr., filed to end her seven-year marriage to Hospenthal on Jan. 3, in the Superior Court of Arizona in Maricopa County.

Patrick, 31, had announced in November via her Facebook page that she was splitting from Hospenthal, saying the marriage was "irretrievably broken."

The couple originally met after Patrick saw Hospenthal, who is a physical therapist and personal trainer, for treatment of a hip injury. They wed in 2005 and had no children.

ESPN reports Arizona is a no-fault divorce state, and the parties agreed neither was at fault. The documents also indicate Patrick and Hospenthal "participated in the mediation process in order to arrive at a fair and equitable settlement."

Patrick announced on Facebook on Nov. 20 that she intended to divorce Hospenthal.

"I am sad to inform my fans that after 7 years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage," she wrote on Facebook. "This isn't easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that's how we will remain moving forward."

She started the season on a high note, winning the pole position for the Daytona 500, the first female driver to do so. She went on to finish eighth in the race, the best finish for a female driver in the premier NASCAR event.

Patrick, the first woman to claim the coveted Daytona 500 pole position this year (only her second season racing NASCAR after years as an IndyCar driver), announced in February she was dating fellow driver Ricky Stenhouse, 25.

According to People Magazine Patrick says to Men's Health Magazine.

"You can't tell your heart who to like and not like," Patrick said. "It just happened."
