What a night it was! Colorful ensembles, routines that we had wanted to see again, and last season’s winner and runner up doing a surprise dance together! “Dancing With The Stars” wrapped up its 20th season and 10th year on the air with an incredible show. The finale started with Riker Lynch and Allison Holker reprising their free style dance they performed at the finals last night. It was chosen by the social media community out of the three dances of the finalists, who also include Rumer Willis and Val Chmerkovskiy and Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess.
Later on, other contestants that had been eliminated throughout the show, also performed some of their memorable numbers, including Charlotte McKinney and Keo Motsepe, Suzanne Somers and Tony Dovolani, Redfoo and Emma Slater, Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson, Nastia Liukin’s “train” routine with Sasha Farber and Derek Hough, Willow Shields and Mark Ballas also performed, bringing back their “Alice in Wonderland Routine,” Chris Soules and Witney Carson, and we couldn’t help but to get out of our seats and dance along with Miss Patti LaBelle and Artem Chigvintsev to 50 Cent’s “In Da Club.”
We also got a treat from finalist Noah Galloway and season 18’s runner up Amy Purdy, who proved once again that you can achieve anything you want with dedication and determination; and we also saw last year’s winner and runner up Alfonso Ribeiro and Sadie Robertson flaunt their moves on the dance floor. After their dance, host Tom Bergeron announced that Alfonso was succeeding him as host on “America’s Funniest Home Videos” after 15 years on the job.
The show also featured performances from Jason Derulo, who sang his hit “Want To Want Me” and Fifth Harmony, who looked as if they were the professional dancers as they did their single “Worth It” to the screams of all the fans watching the finale. Andy Grammer also performed “Honey I’m Good” live as Nastia, Derek and Sasha danced. Derek also danced with sister Julianne Hough to Sia's "Elastic Heart" as she performed in a corner with her face covered up in her true fashion.
And then it was back to the competition as the finalists geared up to perform their “24-hour challenge” which consists of a mix of two styles. First up were Noah and Sharna who did a Cha Cha/Argentine Tango mix. Noah’s improvement throughout the season was in full display during this last dance, that got him a score of 36 out of 40 from the judges. Riker and Allison followed with a Salsa/Quickstep mix that looked as if they had way more than 24 hours to create. Judges were impressed and gave them a score of 40 out of 40.
Rumer and Val took their last bow with a Foxtrot/Paso Doble mix that had the judges saying the show had saved the best for last, and they rewarded them with a well-deserved 40 out of 40. After the final competitive dances of the season, Patti LaBelle took the stage to deliver an emotional performances as highlights of the season's three finalists appeared on screen, making everyone teary-eyed that this season was coming to an end.
Now down to business: Third place went to Noah and Sharna. Second place went to Riker and Allison, making Rumer and Val the winners of the night!
