After nearly three decades of marriage, renowned reggaeton artist Daddy Yankee and his wife, Mireddys González, have decided to end their relationship, with González reportedly filing for divorce. The news was confirmed by the artist himself through social media, addressing rumors that had been circulating for months.
Speculation about their separation began in October 2023 when fans noticed the couple had unfollowed each other on social media and that their shared posts had become rare.
In August 2024, Daddy Yankee revealed that his marriage was going through a crisis, stating: "When I was alone in a dark hotel room, supposedly having it all, I had lost the most important thing: communion with Jesus. I had family problems, and my marriage was in chaos."
On October 4, 2024, the program 'Lo Sé Todo' reported that the couple was "officially separated" and living in different residences—Daddy Yankee in Luquillo and Mireddys in Carolina—although both parties consistently denied the claims.
A relationship thought to be unbreakable
Daddy Yankee, whose real name is Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, and Mireddys González were regarded as one of the most stable couples in the music industry.
They met during their teenage years and married in 1995, long before Daddy Yankee achieved global fame. The couple shares three children: Yamilet, Jesaaelys, and Jeremy.
Mireddys has played a pivotal role in Daddy Yankee's career, working behind the scenes on his production team and managing El Cartel Records, the singer's record label.
The separation coincides with Daddy Yankee's reconciliation with his son Jeremy, from whom he had been estranged.
In an Instagram post, the artist shared a photo with his son, writing: "The Holy Spirit has the power to restore FAMILY, BROKEN FRIENDSHIPS, and, most importantly, YOURSELF. He picks up every broken piece and rebuilds it anew."
The Announcement
After months of persistent rumors, Daddy Yankee addressed the matter directly through an Instagram story, sharing the following statement:
"With a heart full of respect and honesty, I want to share important news about my personal life. After more than two decades of marriage and months of attempting to save it, my lawyers have responded to Mireddys' petition for divorce.
My faith in Christ has been my refuge throughout this process, guiding me as we tried to overcome our differences.
I respect Mireddys' decision and am grateful for the blessings, values, love, and beautiful family we shared, which will always remain our priority.
This is not an easy time, but I understand it is part of my life's journey. It is time to accept and move forward, protecting my stability, my children, and everything we've built over the years.
I deeply appreciate everyone who has supported us during this journey and ask for privacy during this process. I know this news may come as a surprise to many.
Thank you for your unconditional support.
These will be my only statements.
Thank you for your prayers and for always allowing me to share my music and life with you. Now more than ever, I trust that God has a purpose for every stage of our lives.
With love and gratitude,
Raymond Ayala, aka
Daddy Yankee."
