A father revealed how he kicked his pregnant daughter out of their house through a Reddit post on Dec. 9 after knowing that she got back with her ex-boyfriend and after she refused to give it up the child for adoption.
The man, believed to be from the US, shared the story on Reddit and received a host of criticism for the attitude he showed towards his young daughter. The father was branded "controlling and heartless" after kicking his pregnant daughter out of the house.
The thread is titled, "Am I The A******." The father asks for opinions of the people to tell him if he is on the wrong side for giving his daughter an ultimatum to choose to keep her baby and not live in his house or give her child up for adoption to be able to stay in their home.
In the post, he wrote, "My daughter recently told me and my wife that she's pregnant and apparently she's been hiding it for three months. The boyfriend is a scumbag who I thought she left after I gave her an ultimatum to either leave him or leave my house, to which she chose the latter or at least I thought she did.She started sobbing and telling us how sorry she was and that it was just a big mistake. I told her the only way she can stay in our house is if she gave the baby up for adoption, because we won't allow it to ruin her life."
The father recalled how his daughter kept pleading to allow her pregnancy and that she will take care of it. However, the father expressed difficulty and heaviness of his daughter's action. He wanted her to suffer the consequences, especially when he found out that she had been lying for months and going behind his back to see her boyfriend.
"My daughter refused to give her baby up to which is when I decided to kick her out of my house, and now she's staying with a friend for I don't know how long. My wife has been incredibly sad and is now telling me what I did was wrong. It wasn't an easy decision for me to make, but I couldn't allow her to walk away without any consequences." he continued. He ended it by asking whether what he did was right or wrong, which soon flooded with other people's opinions.
Most Reddit commenters argued that he was wrong to do this to his pregnant daughter. Some said "not great parenting" as they described the father's way of dealing with the situation. Some spoke about their own experiences and how their parents accepted the situation with shock. A lot are sympathizing with the daughter, saying how she needed support in a time like this.
Meanwhile, few agreed with the father's solution, pointing out how the daughter should face the reality.
