The alleged killer of a competitive cyclist who was found dead in Texas on Wednesday, May 11, is still currently on the run from authorities, with officials believing that she had murdered the woman after finding out that they had shared a romantic partner in the past.

Kaitlin Marie Armstrong, a 34-year-old yoga instructor, has evaded authorities thus far. The police have wanted to question her about her involvement in the death of 25-year-old professional cyclist Anna Moriah "Mo" Wilson, who was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds in her home, according to NPR.

Armstrong was believed to have used a 9mm Sig Sauer with a silencer when she killed Wilson, before using one of her bicycles to ride away from the victim's home after the murder. Neighbor David Harris claims to have not heard anything during her time of death, the New York Post reported.

“I think I would have heard gunshots next door if she was using a 9mm, so the shooter must have used a suppressor,” he said. “I heard somebody leave but I didn’t see anyone with my own eyes. I had the sense that a bike was leaving. It was not a motorcycle.”

Authorities believe that Armstrong had killed Wilson due to her involvement with Armstrong’s boyfriend, professional cyclist Colin Strickland, who admitted to the police that he swam with Wilson hours before her death.

When Armstrong originally learned of the relationship, she was reportedly so angry that she allegedly threatened to kill Wilson, causing Strickland to change her name and contact number and delete his messages with her in order to keep Armstrong from finding her.

“There is no way to adequately express the regret and torture I feel about my proximity to this horrible crime,” Strickland said. “I am sorry, and I simply cannot make sense of this unfathomable tragedy.”

Wilson’s family released a statement recently mourning her death, while many publications have noted her many wins in the off-road cycling and gravel racing fields and how many had considered her a rising star in the sport.

“While the tragic loss of Moriah is unfathomable, at the same time we want everyone to join us in celebrating her life, accomplishments, and love for others,” her family said. “Always pushing tirelessly to reach her goals, we knew she was pursuing that which she loved. We will miss her terribly and know that all mourn her with us.”
