Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez reportedly returned home from hospital with their newborn daughter on Thursday.
After confirming they had lost the child's twin brother during birth, the Manchester United forward shared a social media update posting a picture of him cradling his newborn daughter, sitting together with his long-time partner Rodriguez and their four children — Cristiano Jr, 11, and twins Eva and Mateo, four, as well as couple's daughter Alana, three.
He wrote, "Home sweet home. Gio and our baby girl are finally together with us. We want to thank everyone for all the kind words and gestures. Your support is very important and we all felt the love and respect that you have for our family. Now it's time to be grateful for the life that we've just welcomed into this world."
The picture was posted shortly after Ronaldo reportedly returned to full session training on Wednesday with Man Utd at Carrington training center after missing their 4-0 defeat against Liverpool on Tuesday.
The Portuguese footballer officially announced in Oct. 2021 that he and Rodriguez were expecting twins. However, a statement released on Monday confirmed one of the couple's twins had died. "It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel. Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support."
"We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you."
The 28-year-old model once again gave birth at the University Hospital Quironsalud in Madrid. She is said to have given birth in a VIP suite, where their daughter Alana Martina was also born. Tamara Degenhardt was the doctor who was in charge of Rodriguez's last birth. The suite, one of four at the clinic, is described to have a bedroom and living room area, two bathrooms, wifi, television and a safe, it was in a restricted area with direct access to an underground garage.
A lot of support poured in for the couple and many wished them well. During Ronaldo's absence in his during the Liverpool game, the Liverpool fans sang, "You'll Never Walk Alone," while Man Utd fans applauded. The audience stood up in the seventh minute, symbolizing Ronaldo's number.
Both sets of players walked onto the pitch wearing black armbands, and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp later described the fans' display of support as the "moment of the game."
Ronaldo thanked Liverpool fans for their display of support in Tuesday's Premier League. "One world... One sport... One global family... Thanks, Anfield. Me and my family will never forget this moment of respect and compassion," Ronaldo wrote on Instagram.
