‘Covert Affairs’ Season 5 Premiere Spoilers: Annie Meets A New Contact In ‘Shady Lane’; Who Is He? [VIDEO]

Season 5 of “Covert Affairs” premieres tonight on USA and with the return of everyone’s favorite CIA spy series, comes a new face, and he is handsome to boot! “Shady Lane” will begin about 4 months after the action of the Season 4 finale “Trompe Le Monde” left off. When we last saw Annie she had rather miraculously escaped from two MSS agents and was able to find Henry, with the help of Auggie of course. In Henry’s haste to get to the train station, Auggie was able to create a traffic jam, causing Henry to attempt to make his escape to the train on foot, however Annie was able to find him and shoot him dead in an alley.

After Henry’s death, Calder who is made interim DCS following Braithwaite’s suicide arranges for Annie’s departure out of Hong Kong. Following the tragic events with Henry, Annie did not immediately return to the CIA or surprisingly seek comfort in the arms of Auggie, instead she absconded for about four months and has essentially been left to her own devices. This hiatus makes her colleagues at the CIA especially weary of Annie. However in “Shady Lane” despite her heroic activities Annie returns to the DCS under a cloud of suspicion, and in typical “Covert Affairs” fashion there is no rest for the weary as Annie is thrown into the field when a desperate situation calls for skills that she is uniquely experienced in.

In this episode Annie will encounter two very different men, one from her past and one is an entirely new contact. The man from Annie’s past is the target of the CIA investigation, however dangerous this man haunts Annie for a different reason altogether. Once Annie comes face to face with the target she will have a startling conclusion, she let the target go once before. While Annie is no doubt shocked to see the man she let free back in the center of a government investigation, the spy will have a difficult time going against her gut instinct. She let him walk free once before, did she make a horrible mistake, or was she right all along? Fans will find out in tonight’s Season 5 premiere “Shady Lane.”

In addition to the target, another person will be joining the investigation. Annie meets a new contact, Ryan McQuaid, who is as charming as he is handsome. Ryan is a former Navy Seal and now owns a private contractor firm, he is currently assigned to the same case as Annie. However according to recent spoiler reports, Ryan will also make her an offer, however it is not the one that she was expecting. Could this offer be something romantic? Annie and Auggie have certainly been estranged, mainly considering her 4 month hiatus. Would Annie leave Auggie for a new man? Fans have learned that on “Covert Affairs” anything is possible and judging from the “Shady Lane” trailer it seems like the Season 5 premiere will not let fans down!
