Cops Launch Manhunt For Suspect That Raped 14-Year-Old Girl At Knifepoint

A man accused of kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl at knifepoint was arrested in Bell Gardens, California on Monday, March 28.

The accused, identified as Robert Nunez, a Bell Gardens-area transient, who had been on the lam for several days after he allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl at knifepoint, was tracked down near the 710 Freeway in Long Beach and arrested on Monday morning, March 28, Law & Crime reported.

On Thursday, March. 24, the Bell Gardens Police Department (BGPD) was notified of the horrific abuse of the 14-year-old victim. The authorities subsequently contacted the teen and asked her the details of the assault, the victim revealed that she was coerced into a residential garage by an adult male and another man.

The accused were later identified as Nunez and his 41-year-old accomplice Jaomir Perez. According to the victim, the duo tied her up before Nunez proceeded to rape her at knifepoint.

Following this, the officers from Bell Gardens, California, executed a search warrant on Perez's home on Thursday and took him into custody. He was incarcerated in the Inmate Reception Center on $50,000 bail, ABC7 Eyewitness News reported.

However, since the officers were not able to find Nunez, they announced a manhunt for the suspect and sought help from the public in locating the accused on Saturday, March 26.

“Mr. Nunez should be considered armed & dangerous,” officers said. “If located, do not approach him, please call 911 and provide the information you have so officers can safely take him into custody.”

On Monday, March 28, the officers received a tip-off regarding the whereabouts of Nunez and located him near the 710 Freeway in Long Beach. He was subsequently taken into custody on rape charges.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a man identified as Lokchandan Sahu, 19, who works as a delivery boy for a Chinese restaurant, has been nabbed for allegedly sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl on the terrace of her building on Oct. 5, 2021, while he delivered orders in Mumbai, India, Latin Times reported.

Sahu, who was at the young girl’s flat to drop off a food order, had allegedly asked her to step out of the apartment as he asked for directions for his next delivery address. However, he proceeded to manhandle the toddler and forcibly brought her to the terrace where he sexually assaulted the young girl.

The brutal incident came to light after the girl narrated the incident to her mother later that day. The mother took the girl to a police station and registered a complaint against the accused. Officers immediately launched an investigation into the incident and arrested Sahu on Oct. 6, 2021.
