In an odd twist of events, a driver dressed as the Cookie Monster was caught on a traffic camera speeding in Germany, according to a report.

Traffic police in Dortmund, Germany, snapped a photo on September 20 of an Audi driver dressed as the cookie-eating Sesame Street character barreling down a highway 10 mph over the limit.

While there have been higher speeds clocked by drivers before, authorities are concerned about the unusual and reckless driving behaviors which surround this incident.

"The fun of wearing a mask from 'The Muppet Show' can quickly turn serious," police spokesman Peter Bandermann said, according to The Sun.

Investigators have not yet identified the driver, but they have tracked down the owner of the vehicle. The Audi owner in question appears to be a 57-year-old man from Hagen, who police say will receive a €40 ($43.75) fine for the violation.

If the driver can be properly identified, they may face an additional fine for wearing a mask and possible legal repercussions around road safety.

"Violating the ban on wearing a mask while driving can be punished with an additional 60 euros (£50)," said Arndt Kempgens, a traffic expert lawyer, according to the outlet.
