Candace Owens posed the question on social media Friday following a report by The Wall Street Journal about "regular, ongoing" communication between controversial tech billionaire Elon Musk and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The thousands of comments include some earnest answers about the national security risk it would pose. There were also theories about it being a falsehood, while others supported her claim that there is nothing wrong with it and he is allowed to speak to whoever he wants because he is protected by the First Amendment.
They're just tossing accusations, hoping something sticks so they can recycle the worn out Russia collusion narrative. It's all smoke and mirrors, an attempt to smear a Trump supporter without substance.

Wild how freedom of speech conveniently stops where the political narrative starts.
If Musk talking to Putin is the problem, maybe the real issue is who's afraid of what they might say.

Someone with a high security clearance in charge of a major federal contractor having secret meetings with the head of state of a major US adversary. Does that explain it to you in simple English or do you need it further dumbed down to your third grade level?

Some answers even managed to provide information without name-calling.
He's a defense contractor with a top secret clearance. The clearance alone establishes rules about contacts with foreign govts and their agents, especially those hostile to the US. Hope that helps.

Fiona Hill, who served as senior director for European and Russian affairs in Trump's White House commented on the implications of a relationship between Musk and Putin in The Guardian, referencing the fact that Musk owns SpaceX and Starlink.
"He is in a position to command government contracts, potentially with a government position, and there are loads of militaries around the world dependent on his systems, not least Ukraine." Bill Nelson, the head of NASA, an agency that works closely with Musk, said the report about the communications is concerning and it should be investigated.
Musk has been an enthusiastic Trump supporter, offering significant financial contributions and leading to speculation about what part Musk might play in a Trump White House. Trump has also reportedly been in contact with the Russian president, with journalist Bob Woodward claiming in his book "War" they have spoken at least seven times since Trump left office. Musk has not commented on the story, but the Kremlin denied there is ongoing communications, speaking about one "phone conversation."
