A teenage boy in Colorado was recently nabbed by cops on the grounds of homicide after a bag containing human remains was discovered. Brian Cohee II, faces multiple charges including first-degree murder, tampering with a deceased human body, and tampering with physical evidence pertaining to a murder that occurred in the area of Crosby Avenue and Highway 340 last month, as reported by Newsweek.

The Grand Junction Police Department initiated a further probe into the incident after they were alerted by someone Monday, who happened to stumble upon what they believed to be human remains inside a plastic bag at home. The department then discovered human remains at one of the searched locations.

The victim was later identified as Warren Barnes, a 69-year-old senior citizen, who was reportedly killed near Crosby Avenue and Highway 340 on Feb. 27. The suspect, Cohee II, was “associated with one of the searched addresses” and soon taken into custody for questioning. He was then remanded to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the three charges.

While the gory attack sent shockwaves across the city, the officers at Grand Junction averred it was a one-off event. “At this time, investigators believe this to be an isolated incident and do not believe there is any ongoing public safety threat to the community,” said a Grand Junction Police Department spokesperson. But, the actual reason behind what led to the killing has not been disclosed as yet.

In another horrifying incident of sorts, the Grand Junction Police Department arrested a teen last month after a deadly shooting left one dead and three injured. Israel Isaiah Maestas-Reza, 18, of Fruita was taken into custody on the grounds of an unrelated juvenile parole violation on Feb. 22.

The officers maintained that they were summoned to the scene after being informed that shots had been fired at a residence in the 1000 Block of Teller Avenue at around 12:17 a.m. on Feb. 20.

Upon arrival, cops found multiple males inflicted with serious injuries that included gunshot wounds. One of the victims however succumbed to the injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

During Maestas's imprisonment, detectives with the Grand Junction Police Department conducted a deeper probe into the homicide investigation and obtained an arrest warrant on Feb. 24.
