After an apartment building kept calling their customers' cars to be towed, a Colorado tattoo shop decided to take a creative approach at getting them back for the nuisance.
Fallen Heroes Tattoo in Colorado Springs painted a mural featuring dozens of giant penises on their shop's roof, in perfect view of the five-story apartment building next door, as reported by 9News.
"The mural is basically a tow truck driver towing a car. He's a big old d*** running over d***s while other d***s are running away from him doing Colorado activities like mountain biking, snowboarding, stuff like that," Paes, the artist who made the mural and also works at the tattoo shop, told 9News.
The creation of the mural was decided on after David Brown, the shop's owner, said that the apartment complex towed about 40 vehicles belonging to their customers, as reported by KKTV.
The apartment complex and the tattoo shop share an alley. The apartment complex owns all of the parking spots in the alley, but only the spots near the complex are labeled, not the spots by the tattoo shop.
The tattoo shop said they did not want to install signs because they would cover a mural they have painted there. But Brown said he thought the apartment complex could do more.
"We tried to work together, and it really got nowhere, do we knew something like this mural would get their attention. They were the ones being d***s at first, so it's basically a sword fight right now. I feel like we're winning," Paes told 9News.
Konrad Lipka with Boardwalk Property, the property management company that owns the complex, told KKTV that they "are actively working with code enforcement and the city to address the matter."
