“Cobra Kai” season 4 is days away and most will be treated to what happens next with the groups of Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) unite against some common foes.
Most who have followed the “Cobra Kai” series so far know that characters associated with Mr. Miyagi have been appearing. The latest one set to appear in the coming season is Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith).
For those who followed the “Karate Kid” films, there are many to mention. However, there was that version where Jackie Chan played the role of mentor to Jaden Smith in the 2020 version of “Karate Kid.”
While having someone as popular as Chan appear on “Cobra Kai” would be awesome, Macchio explains that it is unlikely to happen. The main reason for this is that Chan’s character has no association with Mr. Miyagi.
"Anyone who knew Mr. Miyagi and interacted with Mr. Miyagi is canon for our show, for the Cobra Kai show," Macchio explained when he appeared on Jake’s Tales.
Instead, there is another character who could make sense.
Hilary Swank did appear in the fourth “Karate Kid” film when she portrayed the role of Julie Pierce. Macchio was not part of the fourth installment which was technically the last time Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) was seen.
"To the flip side of that, someone like Julie Pierce, who is Hilary Swank's role, did know Miyagi," Macchio continued. "So there's always a chance for maybe that."
That said, the earliest that seeing the character of Swank appear on “Cobra Kai” may be the fifth season. As far as the angle is concerned, that remains to be seen.
But considering that there is a lot of time to create a script for Julie Pierce, this only shows that “Cobra Kai” will not fall short of interesting content that fans will love to see.
