A woman arrested for smuggling a gold pistol into Australia last year said she should not serve prison time because she's channeling her creative side, volunteering, and working on a music album. YouTube

A Florida woman who traveled to Australia to "get into clown school" and was stopped when Australian Border Force officers found a 24K gold-plated pistol and ammunition in her luggage said she thought it was allowed because Google said it was "OK."

Liliana Goodson was arrested in April 2023 after she failed to declare the $3,000 pistol and ammunition on her arrival card when flying from Los Angeles to Sydney.

Her lawyer said she packed the pistol because she was high and paranoid from synthetic marijuana, which she uses to cope with trauma, news.com.au reported.

The now 30-year-old's sentencing was delayed on Friday and will take place in December, but her lawyer argued she should not have to serve prison time because her "creative side is coming back out now," adding that she volunteers at a local art center and is working on an album.

"It's taken her a while to get to this point but she's here and she is sorry she packed the gun and shipped off the ammunition to this country, and she deeply regrets the course of action that she took," the lawyer continued, according to The Guardian.
