A rodeo clown at Missouri State Fair has been banned for life after donning a mask of President Barack Obama while being charged by a bull. Due to the presidential jest, the rodeo clown won't be allowed to participate or perform at the fair again. Furthermore, Missouri State Fair officials are still considering if they should take any action against the Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association, the contractor responsible for Saturday's event.

The rodeo clown wore an Obama mask while providing entertainment to the crowd during a bull-riding contest; the rodeo clown also attached an upside down broomstick to his backside. The crowd was then enticed with the chance to see "Obama run down by a bull." Many in the audience responded enthusiastically.

"The announcer wanted to know if anyone would like to see Obama run down by a bull," a Facebook post by the website of Show Me Progress said, which identifies itself as a "progressive politics community." The post added, "The crowd went wild. He asked it again and again, louder each time, whipping the audience into a lather."

On Monday, the man announcer, Mark Ficken, attempted to clear his name of any wrong doing regarding the stunt. Albert Watkins, a lawyer for the main announcer at the rodeo, said that the unidentified clown who wore the Obama mask made most of the remarks himself into a microphone he was wearing.

According to Watkins, the only remark his client Ficken made during the stunt was a seemingly standard warning to clowns to be careful, in this case saying, "Watch out for that bull, Obama."

Following the stunt many photos and videos of the masked rode clown being run down by the bull were posted online, after viewing the stunt many Democratic Missouri lawmakers suggested Monday that there should be financial consequences for the fair.

And while the Missouri State Fair denounced the stunt in a written statement as an "unconscionable stunt" that was "inappropriate and not in keeping with the Fair's standards." One other performer did defend the rodeo clown's Obama joke. David Berry, a Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association member who was at Saturday's event, said that he is in fact friends with the rodeo clown, who has remained anonymous, and believes that the act of mocking Presidents is a long-standing tradition with rodeo entertainment.

"The joke is not that it was the president," Berry said. "They drag out this person dressed like a dummy and all of the sudden this dummy just takes off running. That's what's funny."
