After finding out that "Jane the Virgin" is renewed for a new season and receiving the Young Humanitarian Award at the Unite4: Humanity 2016 event, good news keep piling up for Gina Rodriguez. The Puerto Rican actress will now be honored with a special recognition at the 2016 CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards next month.
The news was revealed by managing director of CinemaCon, Mitch Neuhauser, announcing that Gina will receive the CinemaCon Female Star of Tomorrow Award.
“Already a Golden Globe winner for her portrayal of Jane on ‘Jane The Virgin,’ Rodriguez is set to become one of most sought after actresses in Hollywood as she continues to earn rave reviews for her performances on both the small and big screen,” said Neuhauser, according to The Wrap. "A formidable talent and an actress who is truly on the rise, we could not be more thrilled to be able to honor her as this year’s 'CinemaCon Female Star of Tomorrow,'” he added.
Twenty-sixteen is a great year for the 31-year-old Golden Globe winner, who did not only launch her first-ever foundation, but will also star in two new films: "Deepwater Horizon" with Mark Wahlberg and "Annilation" with Natalie Portman. It's also a wonderful year for the popular, award-winning CW show, "Jane the Virgin," which was renewed for a third season.
The ceremony, which has become the largest and most important gathering for the worldwide motion picture theater industry, will take place April 14 at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
