Narco singer Chuy Quintanilla was found slain on the side of the road in South Texas. His body was located in a grapefruit orchard north of Mission at 6:15 a.m. CET on Thursday.
Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office deputies were called out to investigate a body found, and attested that the body was that of Quintanilla.
Workers found the body with two bullet wounds in the head, next to a tan Chevrolet Tahoe. Hidalgo County Justice of the Peace Luis Garza pronounced Quintanilla dead and ordered an autopsy to learn more about his death.
Family members said they last heard from Quintanilla on Wednesday evening, and were not able to reach him on Wednesday night.
Quintanilla's musical career spanned decades and included singing "Corridos," describing exploits of Gulf Cartel leaders.
