Christian Chávez
has been in the headlines for quite some time now. It all started after fight with his then boyfriend Ben Kruger that escalated into a violent situation, leaving both of them injured and in jail. Many media outlets quickly jumped in to cover the story, and a lot of different versions surfaced the web. A threat with a knife, the 911 calls, jail time for both of them, a restraining order against Christian, an alleged picture of the singer dressed in drag, and many other details that never seemed to make sense were the center of many gossip sites. Christian even opened up to Maria Celeste Arraras about his relationship and the incident, and later took the press coming from this situation and released a new song, allegedly about what he went through with his former partner.
Just when people started to forget about him, some disturbing pictures were posted on Christian's Twitter account. The images show the singer laying on his floor with blood on his arms. He also appeared to have what looks like large gashes in his wrists. Another image showed the former RBD singer lying on the floor with his eyes closed and a bottle of alcohol next to his head. "I just want to say to all you people with a double moral...no more," wrote Chávez on his Twitter page. Although he later deleted them and his friends tried to downplay the incident as a joke and an "artist's statement" than an actual suicide attempt, he then confirmed the images were real in a video statement.
"First of all, thanks for watching this video. To me it is very important to clarify that the images that were published, were real. I'm going through a difficult time, I know I'm not the only one, I know that many other young people are going through the same thing. But I also know that with my family, and your love, with God's love and with my hard work towards what I love, I'm going to be alright. Thank you very much, and I hope to see you soon."
However, Telemundo didn't seem to like that too much. Chávez was allegedly in talks with the Hispanic network to host a new talk show that would've been a Spanish version of E! Entertainment's "The Soup," set to air Oct. 28. However, Telemundo doesn't like the image that Christian has adopted and they've asked the producer to kick him off the show. Latin Times contacted Telemundo unsuccessfully. Nevertheless, in the recent heartfelt letter Christian's ex-boyfriend Ben Kruger wrote, he did mention something about Chávez
making his debut as talk show host.
"Christian was deep into negotiations with Telemundo for a new television show that he was going to co-host. The opportunity would have been career changing for him, possibly offering a multi-million dollar contract. Telemundo had already started promoting him on the network with him hosting the Latin Billboard Award red carpet coverage," Kruger said. He then added that Telemundo "was extremely reluctant to report on the story" of the feud between the former couple because Christian was supposed to be their next big star. He also said that they ended up interviewing Chavez, but he called the interview "ridiculously inaccurate."
What do you think? Would you like to see Christian Chavez co-host a show even after all the controversy surrounding him?
