While Captain America actor Chris Evans is one of the finest and well-established actors in Hollywood today, he has had his fair share of struggles too.
Fans start to expect a lot from an actor once he or she becomes hugely popular among the masses. There’s always a pressure to keep the momentum going for actors who are the audience’s favorite. There’s also the fear of being replaced if they don’t give back-to-back hits and keep the audience entertained.
However, Evans has come to realize that there’s no such thing as momentum. And that, for him, was the most difficult obstacle to overcome in his career.
“Kind of accepting the fact that there is no such thing as momentum,” revealed Chris in an interview with Be. “As actors, it’s kind of easy to get sucked into the world of feeling like once you’ve had a job, you have to keep this momentum going; otherwise, it’s all going to be taken away from you,” he continued.
“It’s tough to realize that this is not a race,” Evans further said. “There is no ticking clock breathing down your neck, and just stay the course. Do the work that you believe in. Take the projects that mean something to you and everything will be okay. And sometimes, that concept can get away from you.”
Chris has always been at the top of his game, and there’s a lot of pressure he puts on himself about how he performs. Fans have seen him have his own share of disastrous movies, but now that he’s among the A-listers, there are a lot of expectations pinned on Evans.
But there’s no way he could let them down. Chris seems to have found a way to handle the pressure the right way. He has immense faith in himself and his choice of films.
Being in the top league, the actor has also realized that this is no rat race. Instead of choosing five boring scripts just to stay in the limelight, he would rather choose to work on one brilliant story and make it a blockbuster hit, making the audience love him even more.
The “Avengers: Endgame” star will be seen once again on the big screen in “Knives Out,” which is slated to be released on Nov. 27. His other upcoming projects include a TV show, “Defending Jacob,” and a movie, “Jekyll,” which is already in pre-production.
