The "Chili Finger Lady" is at it again! Anna Ayala is the northern California woman sentenced to four years in prison for planting a severed finger in her bowl of Wendy's chili. And she has now created another wild story, however this tall tale involves an apparent shooting of her son.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, Ayala pleaded no contest to three felony charges and will receive a two-year prison term when formally sentenced in September.
Ayala, also known as "Chili Finger Lady," was arrested in October after telling police that her son was shot in the ankle by two unidentified men. However, the truth of the story is that Ayala's son, Guadalupe Reyes, accidentally shot himself in the ankle. His mother lied to the police to prevent Reyes from going to prison as a felon in possession of a firearm. Reyes will also receive two years in prison for that very charge. He was on parole for a felony burglary conviction at the time of the shooting and subsequent lies.
Reyes was also in on the lie with his mother, Ayala apparently blames it on two unaware men, one of the men they indicated in the shooting, was someone they apparently didn't like. The wrongful allegations prompted police to interrogate the mystified suspect.
Maybe the recent jail time will finally teach the "Chili-Finger Lady" a lesson about lying to the police. Police reported that just like in 2005 when Ayala planted the severed finger, this time around she gave compelling detail. It was her son, Reyes, who offered a weak account and wound up cracking under questioning, the prosecutor said.
