With Argentina and Colombia already sealing their respective places at next summer's World Cup in Brazil, only two qualifying spots remain in the CONMEBOL Group with one match left for eight of the nine teams in the group. The top four clubs at the end of the qualifying stage will automatically qualify for the 2014 World Cup while the fifth place finisher will be forced to enter a playoff with the fifth place finisher of the Asia group. Currently tied in the standings with 25 points each, the upcoming match between Ecuador and Chile will have major World Cup ramifications since both teams are obviously in the mix for a tournament berth.

The two international clubs met back on October 12, 2012 with Ecuador taking the match in convincing fashion 3-1. Since both clubs hold three point advantages over Uruguay and five point advantages over Venezuela, the upcoming match holds a high level of important for each since a win will guarantee one team a spot in the World Cup while the loser will wait be forced to look at the final standings to see if they've qualified for the tournament or if a fifth place playoff is necessary.

Set to take place in Santiago, Chile the Ecuadorian nationals hope they're able to come up with a crucial win on the road while Chile looks to close out what has been a solid qualification campaign with a win of their own.
