On Thursday night, the Chicago Bulls put the ball in Derrick Rose's hands in the closing seconds, and Rose put his team on his back. The newly recovered star point guard floated in a shot from the baseline as two New York Knick defenders swarmed him, lifting his team to an 82-81 victory. On Saturday, November 2nd, the Bulls will face off against another team whose spirits will probably still be high after a last-minute victory, as the Philadelphia 76ers host Rose and his squad at the Wells Fargo Center in Phillly. The Sixers toppled mighty King James and the Miami Heat on Wednesday night in a game which saw the both teams build and squander large leads against their opponent. After the Philly crowd paid tribute to Allen Iverson in his retirement ceremony before the game, rookie point guard Michael Carter-Williams set about recreating Iverson's legendarily large stats on the court. Carter-Williams nearly had a triple double in his career debut, dumping in 22 points, 12 assists, nine steals and seven rebounds as the Sixers got out to a 22-point lead early on before letting the Heat creep back into the lead late in the game. But with less than two minutes left, Spencer Hawes hit a three to put the Sixers back up in front - a lead they never relinquished.

The Sixers' victory over the Heat was a shocker, as many analysts have picked Philadelphia to finish with the worst record in the NBA. They'll come up against another formidable opponent in the Bulls, who are hoping to finally manage to wrest the Eastern Conference crown from the Heat this year. The Bulls appear to still be working out the kinks - especially Derrick Rose, who despite knocking down that game-winning shot, had his second straight rough shooting night, going 7 for 21 from the field with only 18 points. In his post-game comments, Rose acknowledged his frustrations but promised that they would be short-lived. "I missed enough damn shots the whole night," he said, according to the Chicago Tribune. "I'm used to those situations. That's why I work so hard. And I'm not going to continue missing the shots I'm missing."
