As a tremendous NHL Stanley Cup Finals series continues, the Chicago Blackhawks will have a chance to win their second championship in 4 seasons when they return to Boston to take on the Bruins. Starting the series off in tremendous fashion with 3 of the first 4 games going to overtime, Chicago and Boston found themselves in a 2-2 tie heading into Game 5. Behind strong goalkeeping from Corey Crawford and timely scoring from Patrick Kane, Chicago reclaimed the series advantage as Boston will now look to extend their season on home ice.

Game 6 Preview

The Blackhawk offense put on a show in a 6-5 overtime victory in Game 4 and followed that performance up with a 3-goal showing in Game 5. Scoring in the first 2 periods of Game 5, Hawks star Patrick Kane paced his squad to a 3-1 victory. Putting his team back in the series lead, Kane is happy to once again be playing for a championship, something he was a big part of when the Blackhawks won the cup in 2010 as he scored the winning goal in Game 6 against the Philadelphia Flyers.

"I think it's exciting to be back in that situation again," Kane said to NHL reporters. "This is what you work for all year, all summer, when you're training throughout the year at training camp, whatever it may be. This is what you work for, this opportunity. We've got to seize the moment and take advantage of it."

Along with tremendous scoring ability from Kane, Chicago continues to receive shutdown net minding from Corey Crawford. Coming away with key saves to keep Chicago ahead in their previous victory, Crawford stopped 25 of the 26 shot attempts he saw, only allowing a goal to Boston's Zdeno Chara in the third period. Matched up against another capable keeper in Tuukka Rask, Crawford continues to play well in big moments.

The Hawks may also have the services of star player Jonathan Toews in Game 6. Forced to sit out the entire third period in Game 5 because of an upper body injury, Chicago head coach Joel Quenneville believes he'll have one of his top offensive options when they try to bring home another Stanley Cup.

"Johnny is doing much better Sunday," Quenneville said to ESPN. "He's progressing. We're optimistic he'll play Monday night."

While Chicago totaled 9 goals in their last 2 games, the Boston Bruins are still confident in their abilities to extend the series and winning a possible Game 7. When the B's won the Cup in 2011, they had to come back from a similar 3-2 series deficit to take down the Vancouver Canucks. In familiar territory heading into their home-ice Game 6 match-up, Bruins forward Brad Marchand knows a complete effort will be needed if his team is to have any shot of extending the season.

"We've got a group of guys with a lot of character," Marchand said to reporters. "We want to try to win the Cup, and to do that you've got to push to the last second of the last game. We've learned that the hard way, and we just want to try to use that Monday."

In what will surely be a raucous crowd at TD Garden on Monday night, the Boston Bruins will undoubtedly play with a sense of urgency and added physicality since a loss will end their season and give the Stanley Cup to Chicago. The way this series has gone, don't be surprised if there is in fact a seventh and decisive game.
