Caroline Biden, niece of Vice President Joe Biden, landed in police custody and was later hospitalized after an alleged fiasco with her roommate. NYPD responded to a call from the building's doorman that Biden was fighting in her TriBeCa apartment Tuesday. She reportedly took a swing at an officer who tried to mitigate the situation, prompting police to take the 26-year-old in when the scuffle subsided. Biden was charged with obstructing governmental administration, harassment and resisting arrest. A source with local law enforcement told reporters that she and her roommate, Adrienne Reynolds, were fighting about rent money Biden supposedly owed. "The female officer started to fill out paperwork, and Biden objected to it and lunged at the female officer," a law enforcement source told the Daily News. "She kinda swung at the officer. The male officer intervened and Biden became uncooperative and aggressive."

She was taken to the 1st Precinct House where at about 4:30 p.m., she said she wasn't feeling well and was taken to the hospital. Biden was wheeled out of the precinct seven hours after her arrest draped in a sheet and in a wheelchair. She told officers she had not taken her medication used to treat a preexisting heart condition. She refused to answer questions from paramedics before being transported to Beth Israel Hospital. Biden has been given a notice to appear set for Oct. 29. Biden was briefly detained once before by Amtrak police near Wilmington, Del. in 2009 regarding a misunderstanding about train faire. Neither she nor the office of the vice president responded for commentary.
