Famous fashion designer Carolina Herrera confirmed her nephew Reinaldo Herrera, 31, died after apparently being kidnapped in Venezuela.
It is not a secret Venezuela’s actual situation is critical and no one living in that country is completely safe. This time, one of the most important Latin designers has been a victim of her own country's terrible crisis.
Reinaldo and his friend Fabrizio Mendoza, 31, were found late on Thursday in a vehicle abandoned along the highway connecting Caracas to the Caribbean coast, as reported on Reuters.
"Our only hope is that the tragic assassination of our young nephew, Reinaldo and his colleague, Fabrizio will serve to mitigate the terrible carnage and murders that are committed against our youth in Venezuela," Herrera, 78, wrote on her label’s Instagram account.
Many people around the world have been in solidarity with the situation Venezuela is going through and it is through the videos posted on social media where citizens of any country can witness the results of the government decisions.
On Wednesday April 19, a 17-year-old teenager and a 23-year-old girl were killed by unknown gunfire, and a military man was also killed by a sniper outside Caracas. Another gunfire victims have been reported, as detailed on New York Times.
The Venezuelan Observatory of Violence, said in 2013 that in Caracas there are 79 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, almost 25,000 Venezuelans killed by violence in a year, which could be said to have doubled in the last four years.
