Carmen Carrera nearly made history, if the nearly-50,000 fans who signed her Change.org petition had had their way. Ms. Herrera is a super model who has been featured in Glamour Magazine UK and W Magazine in the US. She is also transgender. Carrera came to prominence as a contestant on the popular reality TV show "Ru Paul's Drag Race." She was also at the center of a petition to get her considered as a model on the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show last year.

Carmen Carrera's petition reached 47,300 supporters. Despite being unsuccessful, Carrera told CNN it was important for her. "It's kind of like validation," she says. "No matter how insecure I might be, no matter how un-pretty I might feel, there are people out there who look to me to be strong and to keep going and to keep proving people wrong." In a recent video on Fox News Latino, she talks more about what she is doing to ensure diverse representation in the media.

Carmen Carrera is determined to change the world. "I want to leave something behind," the sexy transgender Latina told W magazine. "So people can look back one day and say, 'Wow, remember when transpeople were discriminated against the most? This person was like, Screw everybody! I'm going to parade around half-naked and be superproud, because that's how everyone should be!' " The petition called Carrera "a force to be reckoned with," and says such a move by Victoria's Secret would "show the entire community that they embrace trans patrons."
